I Tried Eating Like Kim Kardashian For a Day - To Carb or Not to Carb?
Her face looks great, her makeup is flawless, and what about that body. Kim K has to be extremely disciplined to eat and workout the way she does, the question is, can anyone be that disciplined? To tackle this question, I've decided to try Kim K's diet routine for a week and see what it really takes.
First, and foremost, Kim K's diet is low carb and I LOVE carbs. So I already know this will be a challenge. This review of Kim Kardashian's lifestyle is not brought to you by pizza, and that already makes me cranky. So let's do this:
Day 1
Breakfast: 2 eggs with Gouda cheese and half a cup of blueberries
Lunch: chicken with sweet potato and vegetables
Dinner: baked salmon, broccoli, spinach, kale, and a drizzle of olive oil
How I feel after today: After breakfast I actually felt pretty good, I am assuming it's because I got to have cheese (my second favorite food group). Lunch was also okay, I made the chicken and veggies into a salad and ate the sweet potato as a dessert. The protein in the chicken almost held me over until dinner. Dinner was good, but the late night cravings hit bad. I drank plenty of water through the day to help me stay full, but after 6 p.m., things got hard.
Day 2
Breakfast: 'noatmeal' with shredded coconut and peanut butter - check out Wholesome Yum's recipes here
Lunch: 2 boiled eggs with sliced tomatoes, spinach, onion, topped with 8 cashews and 1/8 of an avocado
Dinner: baked salmon with cauliflower mashed potatoes and green beans topped with 6 almonds
How I feel after today: I woke up cranky, clearly my body is already missing the carbs. The 'noatmeal' did not disappoint though, I drank some tea after hoping that will help my empty crying stomach. I was excited to add avocado to my lunch, and I think it actually kept me okay until dinner. Cauliflower mashed potatoes is one of my favorite carb alternatives already, so dinner was very satisfying. Still hungry later at night, so today I decided it was okay to have snacks: celery.
Okay at this point, I am mostly talking about how hungry I am, so I will spare you more details, and will layout the rest of my meals before the final review of the week. I have to say, at this point I am really questioning if it's worth eating this little. So far a day in the life of Kim Kardashian has only lead to hunger.
Day 3
Breakfast: 2 eggs with spinach and an apple
Lunch: 2 boiled eggs, tuna salad, on a bed of mixed greens - check out this recipe
Dinner: cod fillet with mushrooms
Snacks: 6 almonds, lots of tea (good thing it's been colder lately!)
Day 4
Breakfast: Woke up late, no time to cook, grabbed one of my pre-made boiled eggs and let myself have some coffee with organic almond milk
Lunch: chicken and broccoli soup (check out this low carb recipe)
Dinner: I had a little fun: I made pizza! Check out this crust recipe I found!
Snacks: Water, just water all day
Day 5
Breakfast: 'noatmeal' again, this time with blueberries and raspberries
Lunch: Low carb sandwich lunchbox
Dinner: Leftover pizza from the day before
Snacks: tea, red pepper slices, and of course, plenty of water
So? How I feel after this week?
You probably guessed it... HUNGRY! Kim K definitely has some serious discipline and self control. I also ran into a challenge I was not expecting.... Trying hard to resist temptation when my friends wanted me to meet them for dinner. I can't imagine what Kim K does in this situation, or even with her family. I do have to say that some of the new recipes I tried were delicious and I am glad I expanded my horizons. Except leftover cauliflower pizza crust.... that was definitely not one of my best choices.
Overall, Kim Kardashian's diet routine was exhausting; I had to find and learn new recipes, I felt hungry most of the time, and felt the need to avoid my friends so they didn't ruin this experiment of a day in the life of Kim K. I do have to give credit to the way my body felt by day 4, I actually was less hungry and my body somehow felt better. Would I do this again? Only if my life depended on it. Thanks for reading :*
