Reviews on Kim Kardashian and Creme Contour & Highlight - Worth it or Hyped Up?

A long-anticipated package finally arrived on my doorstep this morning-- inside it was no other than Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist-renowned Crème Contour & Highlight Kit! It is no surprise that Kim K, a huge advocate of the contouring and highlighting phenomenon, has released her very own line of these products. Her enormous fanbase (myself included) has been looking forward to try these kits as soon as she introduced them to the market. I am constantly watching videos of Kim Kardashian's make-up routine on her Instagram where she constantly highlights her products and now I have a chance to experience her daily routine.
Kim’s Crème Contour & Highlight line has been receiving a wide variety of responses, from rave reviews to outrageous critiques. In any case, there is no doubting the growing popularity of these contour kits. In fact, the first batch sold within a matter of hours. Now, I finally get the chance to try it for myself and provide you all with my honest review.

Packaging
The Crème Contour & Highlight Kit arrived inside of what resembled a nude, opaque Ziploc bag. While the packaging’s simplicity and nude-hue perfectly fit Kim’s “nude chic” look, I have to say, for $48, it appeared on the cheaper side. Maybe it was the flimsiness of the plastic, or its sandwich bag-esque appearance, but either way, I felt that Kim’s marketing team could have done a better job of designing the packaging. Unfortunately, because of this packaging, it was harder to act as Kim-esque as I imagined when ordering the product. The kit itself included two makeup sticks, and one makeup applicator/blender. These were pretty lightweight and appeared to be made of plastic, similar to what you could expect to find in a drugstore makeup aisle. Again, for $48, I felt that they skimped a bit on the materials used.

Product
The two makeup sticks were each double-sided. One stick had darker shades meant for contouring, and the other stick had lighter shades for highlighting. Each stick had a matte and a shimmer side. The makeup was molded into “almond-shaped” ends, which would ensure precise contouring and highlighting application. The makeup itself contracts in and out of the plastic casing, similar to a tube of lipstick. Upon contracting the makeup out as far as I could, I realized there was a lot less product provided than I had hoped for. It was similar to a sample or trial-size amount of makeup you would receive at any retail store, which was a bit disappointing, especially for the price.

Application
Although the packaging and amount of product did not entirely meet my expectations, the Crème Contour & Highlight Kit may have redeemed itself for its smooth application. Both the contour and highlight sticks applied easily to my skin, smoothly gliding across the angles and curves of my face. The formula was rich and consistent, as well. I would consider the application the best part of this review. When applying the make-up I did finally get the satisfaction of feeling like I was living a Kim Kardashian moment. The feeling of the make-up and the way it looked was a glamourous as what Kim shows in her almost daily videos showcasing her make-up.

Conclusion
Overall, I would rate the Crème Contour & Highlight Kit a 6 out of 10. While it is not the worst contouring and highlighting product I have reviewed, it is definitely not the best. For its price point, and its promotion by beauty-guru Kim K, I expected a lot more from this makeup kit. Honestly, I felt that it was on-par with common drugstore makeup brands. Would I repurchase it? Most likely not- unless there was a reduction in its price. Would I recommend it to other Kim K fans and/or makeup enthusiasts? Probably not, but then again, every person’s experience is unique. It all boils down to: is the price worth the experience of mirroring the daily life of Kim Kardashian? Thanks for reading! :*
